LESSON 1: UILLEANN PIPE ROLLS IN JIGS

'Rolls in Jigs' or sometimes called 'Long Rolls' are a combination of a cut and a strike. They are used when you have three identical eight notes that need to be separated. They are played like the top image but can be written with a "half moon" or a "sideways S looking thing" above or below it. When you see these symbols it means play a roll on that note. For most of these lessons I will be using the "sideways S" but you can use which ever one you like in general.
