Lesson 7: Uilleann Pipe D, Whole Notes & 3 Blind Mice
Watch the video below to learn to play Low D on the Uilleann Pipes and then try the exercises below. Take your time and double check to make sure you are playing each note correctly before moving on to the next lesson.
Things to Remember:
Bottom D Exercise 1
Lift the chanter off your knee for each note.
G-F#-E-D Exercise 1
Separate each note by either closing all the holes or by lifting the chanter off your knee.
3 Blind Mice
Yah! your first song. Remember to close the chanter holes in between each note and to take the chanter off your leg in bar 5 for those 4 D's. Also, make sure to hold the D's in bars 2, 4 and 8. They are whole notes and are held twice as long as half notes.
Alright, now we are getting somewhere. You have learned almost all the different note values, all the low hand notes and a song you can play for your friends. Give yourself a pat on the back and lets start working on the high hand notes in the next lesson.
